Lawrence Frank Wants Hopeless Detroit Pistons to Keep Playing Hard

The Detroit Pistons’ season came undone a very long time ago, but their head coach sees value in them playing hard and winning in these final days. From the Detroit News: “It’s 15 days — or nine games — before the playoffs begin. While the Pistons aren’t yet mathematically eliminated, the writing is on the wall — with a Bucks win tonight, the Pistons will be out. But evidenced by coach Lawrence Frank’s near-tirade after a 30-point loss to Orlando on Monday night, he’s still demanding the full attention of his players. ‘Do you make the days count or do you count the days?’ Frank asked after a 21/2-hour practice at Orlando Sports Center. ‘It’s all on how you approach it. We don’t want to play one of the worst games into (the summer).’ He brought up the way the Lions finished 2010, when they won their final four games. Frank said that propelled them to their success last season, when they went 10-6 and made the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. ‘What kind of momentum do we want to bring into the offseason?’ Frank said. ‘We were 4-20 and then 17-16 since. So what direction do we want to go?'”
