LeBron: Amped for Tonight’s Showdown With the Celtics

by Marcel Mutoni

To deflect the pressure and enormity of the moment, most NBA players do their best to downplay the hype when it comes to big matchups. LeBron James, as you might’ve guessed, is not most NBA players.

King James is helping to build up the hype for the game tonight against the team that knocked him out of the Playoffs last season. It’s also becoming increasingly clear that LeBron is obsessed with slaying the C’s.

From the Boston Globe:

As Cavaliers star LeBron James’s media session wound down after a blowout win over Charlotte Wednesday, the climax of the Celtics’ game against Houston was being shown on three flat-screen televisions in Cleveland’s locker room.

Once James answered his last question, which involved tonight’s showdown against Boston, he walked directly in front of the TV closest to his locker and became transfixed with the Celtics’ 89-85 loss. He openly rooted against the Celtics, as did teammates Daniel Gibson and ex-Celtic Delonte West.

“We know it is not just another game,” he said. “We’re looking forward to the challenge.”

So, yeah, tonight should be fun.

A struggling Celtics team desperate to get back in the win column, going up against the team that could very well knock them off their throne come Playoff time and that’s licking its chops right now. As a certain Dallas Cowboy might say, getcha popcorn ready.
