Magic Sign Tobias Harris to 4-Year, $64 Million Extension

Tobias Harris has come to terms on a four-year, $64 million deal to stay with the Orlando Magic. After missing out on Paul Millsap, Orlando ponied up the cash to give Harris the near-max money he wanted.

From RealGM:

Orlando restricted free agent Tobias Harris has reached agreement on a four-year, $64 million-plus contract to re-sign with the Magic, league sources told RealGM.

Harris, the most talented wing player in restricted free agency, had spent the first three days of July negotiating on a long-term deal with the Magic. Several other suitors emerged during the process, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics.

Discussions between the Magic and Harris had briefly paused Friday afternoon, seemingly needing the weekend to resume, but Orlando was able to increase its positioning to reach terms for the 22-year-old. For Harris and the Magic, this represents a value contract to match a budding talent, a step toward continuing the team’s core.
