Whatever you think of Mark Cuban the man, Mark Cuban the team builder has been pretty damn successful in his 15 season as team owner, including hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy in 2011 after defeating the Miami Heat.
Reflecting on his worst move, though, Cuban pointed to the acquisition of Lamar Odom.
Odom came to the Mavs after the 2010-11 season in exchange for a first-round pick, and things immediately fell apart for the big lefty. Odom failed to fit in with in Dallas and eventually left the team before his deal was up, after putting up subpar numbers. He’s never been the same since.
Cuban still regrets the move, according to Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star Telegram via Twitter:
#Mavs owner Mark Cuban said acquiring Lamar Odom in 2011 "was by far the worst'' personnel move he's ever made.
