Milwaukee Bucks GM John Hammond Got a Three-Year Extension

John Hammond has been rewarded with a three-year contract extension by the Milwaukee Bucks. No, we don’t know why either. Per the Journal Sentinel: “It was a move that had been anticipated after Hammond confirmed two weeks ago he was in discussions with team owner and president Herb Kohl about an extension. It’s a critical time for the Bucks right now following the departure of coach Scott Skiles on Jan. 7. Hammond and Skiles joined the franchise in April 2008 and the two worked together for four-plus seasons. Jim Boylan, the Bucks’ lead assistant under Skiles since 2008, was named interim coach for the remainder of the season and has led the Bucks to a 6-2 record thus far. ‘This point in the season shouldn’t necessarily be about contract extensions,” Hammond said Wednesday. ‘It should be more about our team and how we play through the remainder of the season.’ The Bucks are 22-18 as they approach the halfway point of the season Friday night in Cleveland. They are seventh in the Eastern Conference and in playoff position. But there are plenty of decisions to be made as the Bucks finish the current season and look ahead to the next few years. Now it’s clear that the 58-year-old Hammond and his management team will be making those tough choices. Hammond was serving in the final year of his contract.”
