For fans, the trade deadline is captivating because it’s the last chance during the season for our favorite teams to transform their rosters, while our favorite players may finally be given a deserved chance to compete alongside a new set of faces. But for the players themselves, it’s a whole different ballgame—the place they live for eight months of the year could change on a dime, or a close friend might be shipped out of town with little or no warning.
