Paul Pierce to Retire After Next Season

Paul Pierce announced Monday that he’ll be suiting up for his 19th and final season in the NBA.

Pierce says he’s given the game of basketball everything he has, and that he’s at peace with moving on.

The 38-year-old future Hall of Famer has career averages of 20 points and 5.7 rebounds.

Per The Players’ Tribune:

This is is it, my final season.

It’s time to move on from the game of basketball.

Just like any difficult decision, I think you’ve got to be at peace with yourself. I’m at peace with retiring, but I’ve got one more ride left. One more season. One more opportunity.
