Basketball and sports in general are here to entertain us. Even when we take it too seriously and look for deeper meaning, it’s still entertainment. Last night, several players provided us with joy in winning efforts. Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Darko Milicic, and Stephon Marbury just to name a few. But there was one unforgettable moment that will be burned into out brains until the end of time. And it can be seen in the video below.
OUCH! Shaun Livingston might never be the same again. Maybe he’ll bounce back. Either way, that is the lasting image from the NBA last night. Is it sick or masochisitic or macabre to watch something like this over and over? How does Shaun feel? How do you feel? On a night when the Player of the D.A.Y. was a toss up between the host and first guest on Stars on Stars, I’m going the third way.
Shaun Livingston is player of the D.A.Y. and not for anything he did as a part of a positive performance on a basketball court. He needs this right now. Rest up Shaun. Your pain entertained millions. Take solace in that.
