Rajon Rondo to Help Broadcast a Boston Celtics Game

Despite requiring nine stitches after taking a blow to the face against the Toronto Raptors Wednesday night, Rajon Rondo figures to be ready for his TV broadcast debut Monday night. Rondo will be a guest analyst as the C’s travel to take on the Chicago Bulls. Per the Boston Herald:

The Celtics point guard, who doesn’t play on the second night of back-to-back games, said he is already working on his delivery.

“I’ll be fine,” he said of getting in front of the camera. “I’m practicing, I’m prepping, I’m getting my notes together. I’m going to be just like Tommy (Heinsohn).”

Heinsohn, told that he was Rondo’s role model, laughed and said, “Good luck.”

But Rondo, who approached (Mike) Gorman about filling in as guest analyst two weeks ago, does indeed appear to be serious about it.

“This is something different,” Rondo said. “There was one night I was watching a replay of the game and I was pretty fascinated by how good Mike is, how good Mike and Tommy are. I’ve known Mike and Tommy since I’ve been here, and those guys have always been generous to me. I’ll get a chance to have a little fun with Mike.”

“He knows he can’t give too much insight,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens said. “We’ll go over all of the rules Monday (in Chicago) in detail. But he’ll be really good. People will be interested to hear what he has to say, and it great that he’s interested in doing that.”

“I won’t give up any of his secrets,” Rondo said. “I should be pretty harsh on Chicago.”
