Rajon Rondo Making Season Debut Friday vs the Lakers

Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge confirmed the rumors — Rajon Rondo will play for the first time this season tomorrow night. Per the Boston Herald:

Rondo’s minutes will be limited to ease him back in. Ainge said that he’ll likely play five minutes per quarter to start with.

“Knowing Rondo, he’ll probably complain about that,” Ainge said.

Rondo has been working out with the team and actually practiced with the Maine Red Claws, the Celts’ D-League affiliate, yesterday. He said that he wanted to be absolutely sure of his repaired right knee before returning to the court. Ainge, for one, thinks it won’t take long before Rondo is feeling like himself. “I expect him to come back quicker than anyone expects,” Ainge said. “He’s a great competitor.”
