Report: DeMar DeRozan Wants To Return To Toronto

DeMar DeRozan was a huge part of the Toronto Raptors’ franchise-best season and, if the rumors are true, will be running it back with T.Dot as the Raps attempt to dethrone the Cavs in the East.

DeRozan is one of the biggest names hitting the market this summer and while there was speculation that the Compton, CA native had been considering making a return home, ESPN’s Tim MacMahon says that the All-Star shooting guard has his heart set on Toronto.

Following Toronto’s elimination from the Eastern Conference Playoffs, DeRozan stated that his “mind-set has always been Toronto” and the latest reports back up the claim.

More from McMahon and ESPN:

Toronto Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan does not plan to schedule meetings with other teams at the start of free agency, opting to focus on working out a contract to return to the Eastern Conference finalists, a source told ESPN.com.

DeRozan, 26, a two-time All-Star who led the Raptors with 23.5 points per game last season, has been consistent in stating that his strong preference is to remain with the only franchise he has played for during his seven-year NBA career.

DeRozan and point guard Kyle Lowry make up one of the best backcourts in the NBA and the duo, along with Drake, graced the cover of SLAM 198.
