Rick Adelman Doesn’t Plan on Coaching Next Season

In a recent interview, longtime coach Rick Adelman gave his insight on the NBA lockout and put rumors of him coaching next season to rest. Furthermore, Adelman claims there’s numerous reports on the internet that simply hold no truth. Via the StarTribune:

“Rick Adelman said today that he doesn’t plan on doing anything next NBA season – whenever and whatever that might be – other than take a break from coaching. At least that’s what he said. ‘It’s a hard grind in the NBA and I’ve been doing it for 20-plus years. I’m just looking forward to getting away from it. Right now I don’t plan on doing anything, just taking some time off. I don’t have any plans to (coach) next year, no. They had me interviewing a couple places that I never even went to, It’s all part of it now. If you don’t have a job and you’ve coached in the league, the first thing that happens if a job opens up, they throw the same names out there. Sometimes you know things are happening, but until you hear from teams, I don’t believe a lot of things I read.’… ‘The whole league, with the lockout and everything, it’s hard telling what’s going to happen,’ he said. ‘I think they’ll probably end up having a season but it’ll probably be a short one like a few years ago, maybe 50 games or something like that.’ On a different front: Looks like this will be another quiet week for the Wolves’ search. They haven’t interviewed anyone since Don Nelson met with Kahn, owner Glen Taylor and the team’s minority partners nine days ago and because of the lockout, they don’t appear to be in any rush. Kahn went on a tropical vacation last week and he and Taylor are not expected to interview anyone else until Larry Brown and one other unknown candidate. Both those two interviews likely are set for next week.”
