Rudy Gay Asked for Refund on Game Tickets When He Was Traded

Say what you will about Rudy Gay as a ballplayer, but the man doesn’t mess around when it comes to his money. After being informed that he was traded to the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, Gay and teammate Quincy Acy asked for a refund on game tickets they’d purchased for the Raptors/Lakers game. Per the Toronto Sun: “Gay was informed about the pending deal not long before he was to check out of his hotel and board the team bus to the arena. Shortly thereafter, Gay and Quincy Acy, who was also Sacramento-bound, politely asked for refunds for the tickets they had purchased, because their guests would no longer be attending. […] Gay has caught some flack for the whole thing, since he is owed just shy of $18 million this season and will receive over $19 million more if he opts in to the final year of his contract. He also gets a large road per diem. Acy earns about $800,000. It’s unclear whether either player got their money back.”
