Sacramento Kings Claim Travis Outlaw off Amnesty Waivers

Former Nets forward Travis Outlaw was amnestied a few days ago, but he didn’t go unclaimed for long, as Yahoo!‘s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Outlaw has been scooped up by Sacramento: “The Sacramento Kings have been awarded former New Jersey Nets forward Travis Outlaw after placing the highest bid in the NBA’s amnesty waiver process, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. After Nets coach Avery Johnson pushed for his signing a year ago, Outlaw received a five-year, $35 million free-agent deal, but never delivered the type of production that warranted the contract. New Jersey used the amnesty clause to waive him. Outlaw, 27, averaged 9.2 points and four rebounds a game for the Nets last season. The Kings are Outlaw’s fourth team of his nine-year career. After joining the NBA straight from high school, he spent most of his first seven seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, who made him the 23rd pick in the 2003 draft. Outlaw fractured his right wrist doing boxing training during the lockout.”
