‘Sheed Hates the All-Star Game

OK, not really, but Rasheed Wallace isn’t exactly thrilled with the idea of going to New Orleans next month.

With Shaq fossilizing before our very eyes, and Dwight Howard being the sure-fire starter , ‘Sheed is likely to be named the backup center by the coaches in the mid-season showcase. There’s just one small problem: He doesn’t want to go.

“That’s what I look forward to, those four days,” Wallace said. “I’m not trying to go down there. I want to rest those four days. I’ve been keeping a little eye on it. Better (Shaq) than me.”

If you’ve ever wondered why a large segment of the basketball-viewing public doesn’t like the guy, this is a perfect example. His coach, Flip Saunders, is already ridiculing the comments, as he should.

Go to the game, Sheed. The weekend may be a grind to an extent (what, with the media obligations and whatnot), but it’s not like you’re going to be asked to play 40 minutes in the game. Suck it up.
