So, About That Suns/Rockets Brouhaha

by Marcel Mutoni

Things got a bit testy between the Suns and Rockets last night towards the end of the third quarter. The game, which ended in a 94-82 victory for Houston, is pretty much an afterthought now. All anyone cares about at this point is the “fight”.

My favorite part of this is the announcer’s reaction, almost immediately after Tracy McGrady cans a three, when he realizes that a melee may be breaking out. “Hold up, hold up, hold up, hold up, hold up!”

As the video clearly shows, Matt Barnes instigated things when he (and his elbow) evidently disagreed with a Rafer Alston pick, and shoved Skip out of the way.

Of course, as is often the case in the NBA, the fracas turned into nothing more than a bunch of very large men shoving each other to the ground. After T-Mac knocked Steve Nash down, Shaq returned to the favor to the sleepy-eyed wonder. Hey, what happened to the love, Big Aristotle?!

Matt Barnes and Rafer Alston were ejected, but this will not be the last we hear of this incident. It will certainly be interesting to see how the NBA handles the situation, and who gets a slap on the wrist from the Commish.
