Stephen Jackson Apologized for Threatening Serge Ibaka, Fined $25K

The NBA wasn’t particularly moved by Stephen Jackson’s apology over Twitter and Instagram for threatening Serge Ibaka — they still docked him $25,000, and the San Antonio Spurs may punish him even further. Per the Express-News: “Spurs veteran Stephen Jackson has been fined $25,000 for ‘issuing a hostile statement’ directed at Oklahoma City forward Serge Ibaka, the NBA announced on Sunday. Spurs general manager R.C. Buford said in a statement that Jackson’s comments ‘are absolutely unacceptable, cannot be tolerated and do not reflect the standards held by the San Antonio Spurs.’ The fine was a joint action by the NBA and the Spurs, according to the statement. Jackson posted an apology earlier in the day via his Twitter account: ‘I apologize to Serge Ibaka, the NBA, and to all my fans for the comments I made. It was unprofessional and childish. I’m not a thug just a man who speaks his mind. It was not appropriate. I do apologize. Only a man can admit when he’s wrong.'”
