Steve Kerr Will Coach Warriors Summer League Team

Steve Kerr is hardly new to the NBA, but he’s never coached before. It looks like he’ll try to get some experience under his belt before he dives into the regular season. From CSN Bay Area:

Coaches traditionally don’t always take the reins of Summer League teams, but doing so has become more prevalent in recent years – particularly among first-time head coaches.

Jason Kidd, a few months removed from retirement as a player, coached last summer and the Nets wound up making the playoffs. Jeff Hornacek, in his first job as head coach, led the Suns to the brink of the playoffs. Hornacek finished second in the Coach of the Year voting.

Kerr plans to follow that blueprint. The Las Vegas Summer League runs July 11-21.
