Steve Nash Broke the Phoenix Suns’ Career Assist Record

Last night, Steve Nash became the Phoenix Suns’ new franchise leader for career assists. Per the AZ Republic: “Nash needed seven assists entering Wednesday night to pass Kevin Johnson’s franchise record of 6,518 assists but only had two at halftime because New Orleans’ defense turned him into a shooter … Nash tied the record when he lobbed a pass to Josh Childress posting up for a third-quarter score. Moments later, Nash hit Childress again with a fastbreak outlet pass for a layup and the franchise record. Johnson, who mentored Nash in his first two Suns seasons, set the mark in 683 games. Nash set the new mark Wednesday night in his 701st game as a Sun. Nash ranks sixth all-time in NBA history for assists.”
