Tracy McGrady let ESPN‘s Stephen A. Smith know last night what everyone already suspected: He’s dunzo for the year, and who knows for how long thereafter.

According to Smith’s report, McGrady will undergo the always-dreaded microfracture surgery on his gimpy left knee, effectively ending his already disappointing 2008-’09 campaign.

In an ironic twist of fate, Rockets owner Leslie Alexander had come out yesterday and strongly claimed that he wasn’t looking to deal his ailing forward despite the persistent rumors. Um, Leslie, it doesn’t look like anyone would’ve taken him anyway.
