#TBT: Ray Allen

Today’s absurd trade deadline has sparked memories of old mid-February blockbusters. For instance, in 2003, the Sonics shipped Gary Payton and Desmond Mason to Milwaukee for 27-year-old Ray Allen just before the League-wide buzzer sounded.

Allen had spent six and a half seasons with the Bucks. He entered the League averaging 13.5 points per game as a rookie, and was dropping 22 nightly by the time he was dealt. In ’01-02, his last full season in Milwaukee, he hit 3.3 triples per game while shooting 43 percent from deep. So, yeah, this sharpshooter thing is nothing new for him.

Enjoy one of his all-time heat check games from April of ’01 (game tips at 1:45 in the clip).
