Tom Thibodeau Says The Timberwolves Lack Toughness

Before the season started, the Timberwolves were predicted by many to make a huge leap and compete for the playoffs this season. Now that games are being played, however, Minnesota has yet to live up to the hype on the court and currently sit at 0-2.

During Saturday night’s loss to the Kings, the Wolves were on the wrong end of a 24-1 third quarter run. While the Wolves came back, they couldn’t overcome the huge run and after the game, which new head coach Tom Thibodeau publicly questioned the team’s toughness.

From Jerry Zgoda and the Star Tribune:

“Everything: Mental toughness, physical toughness, emotional toughness, all aspects of it,” he said afterward. “Every team has two or three primary scorers, and they’re going to put pressure on you and you have to respond. It’s not any one person’s responsibility. It’s the entire team’s. We have to get tied together and have discipline …”

The Wolves offense is still working out the kinks and, according to NBA.com’s John Schumann, Andrew Wiggins has zero assists through the first two games:

Minnesota will take on Memphis on Wednesday night.
