Troy Murphy Staying Home Until He’s Traded

The man who signs Murphy‘s paycheck stole all of the thunder from his trade demand. The poor bastard. From the Star-Ledger: “Troy Murphy has played his last game for the Nets. The Sparta native and Delbarton grad has asked to be traded after less than one season with the team, GM Billy King said, and the team will grant that request. Murphy will be allowed to stay home until the team can find a taker for his expiring $11.9 million contract. Murphy, 30, was left back in New Jersey last week when the team went on a four-game West Coast trip — the team said he was ‘sick’ — and he was to have been part of the three-team deal with Denver and Detroit that would have brought Anthony to the Nets. Murphy would have been sent to Detroit, along with Johan Petro, in exchange for Richard Hamilton.”
