Tyreke Evans to Reportedly Undergo Season-Ending Knee Surgery

New Orleans Pelicans forward Tyreke Evans could miss the remainder of the regular season, due to a right knee surgery, according to a published report.

Head coach Alvin Gentry acknowledged the possibility in a chat with reporters Wednesday, but says a final decision has yet to be made.

Evans, 26, had surgery on the same knee last May.

Evans will visit specialists this week to finalize his surgery details, sources said. […] Evans underwent arthroscopic surgery in the same knee in October and recently again experienced pain in the knee. The Pelicans announced on Sunday that Evans would rehab his knee until after the NBA All-Star break.

In 25 games this season, Evans averaged 15.2 points, 6.6 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals. New Orleans, 19-32, is seven games out of the eighth playoff seed in the Western Conference.

Evans served as a playmaker and scorer alongside New Orleans star Anthony Davis and is now the Pelicans’ third consecutive rotation player lost to extended time. In January, Quincy Pondexter underwent season-ending surgery and Eric Gordon had finger surgery.
