WATCH: Stephen Curry and Derrick Rose Duel in Chicago

In a classic and thrilling PG matchup Wednesday night, in which both guys seemed to have an extra spring in their step, Stephen Curry and Derrick Rose put on a show in the Windy City.

Despite big performances from both Rose and backcourt mate Jimmy Butler, Curry and the defending champion Golden State Warriors streamrolled the Chicago Bulls in a 125-94 thrashing.

D-Rose finished with 29 points; Steph had 25 points, 11 assists and seven boards.

Per the Chicago Tribune:

Whether the Warriors can match or break the 1995-96 Bulls’ record 72-10 mark remains to be seen. But this is as evident as Stephen Curry’s talent: The Warriors are must-see TV for anyone who appreciates basketball. […] “They’re a team that can go on unbelievable spurts,” Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said. “And those spurts sometimes last for 48 minutes.”

After their Monday dismantling of the Cavaliers in Cleveland, the Warriors did at least have a temporary lull, letting a 21-point, first-half lead dwindle to 11 in the third quarter as Jimmy Butler awakened from his quiet first half to score 15 of his 23 points. By quarter’s end, the Warriors had righted the ship, pushing the lead back to 24. The Warriors, who got 25 points from Curry and 20 from Klay Thompson, possess that kind of potency, those quick-hit scoring spurts. […] “It’s embarrassing, man,” Derrick Rose said. “We let go of the rope and stopped communicating. If you don’t have communication on the defensive side when you’re playing a team like that, it can get ugly.”

Rose hit his first four shots while playing as if shot out of a cannon, taking a seat midway through the first with 10 points. Rose, who missed the Warriors’ home victory in November with a sprained ankle, asked to come out for conditioning and had a similarly short second-quarter stint for the same reason. […] “I missed three days and have to work on my conditioning,” said Rose, who still managed 21 first-half points. “I have to build it back up.”
