WATCH: Stephen Curry Drops 20 Fourth-Quarter Points in Loss to Nuggets

The Golden State Warriors suffered just their third loss of the season Wednesday night in Denver, coming up short on a furious fourth quarter rally ignited by 20 of Stephen Curry’s game-high 38 points in the period.

Danilo Gallinari led the Nuggets with 28 points in the 112-110 thriller.

Though evidently thrilled with beating the defending NBA champions, the Nuggets know they must now build on this.

Per the Denver Post:

“When you beat the best team in the NBA it’s always a quality win,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone said. “I couldn’t be prouder of our guys. They deserve all the credit going out there and playing for 48 (minutes).”

They had to survive a full Stephen Curry onslaught to get the job done. Curry hadn’t played particularly well all night, but started to cook in the fourth, making shots from everywhere. He scored 20 points in the final 12 minutes, keeping the Warriors always within striking distance. […] “Steph Curry with 20 points in the fourth quarter, that’s … whew … that’s your defending MVP right there,” forward Kenneth Faried said.

Gallinari stayed stone-faced. […] “It’s a very good win,” he said. “But in two days we play again, another team. We can enjoy tonight, but we cannot think about this victory too much.”
