Deron Williams Lifts Besiktas to Victory in First Game

Deron Williams has successfully touched down in Turkey, and instead of taking some time to settle in, he got right in a game and helped his new squad get a victory. Here’s the report, via Sporting News: “Besiktas’ investment in Deron Williams is already paying off. In his first game with Besiktas, Williams played a big part in his new team’s 93-91 win over Euroleague power Montepaschi Siena in the annual Bormio Tournament in Italy, Netsdaily.com reports. Williams finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and six assists in 18 minutes. Williams didn’t expect to play. He tweeted “Went to the gym to watch the team play today! Shot around for a couple min and then decided to play and got a W ! #WhyNot”. Williams arrived in Ankara, Turkey, on Thursday with his family. He averaged 20.1 points, 10.3 assists last season for the Utah Jazz and New Jersey Nets. Other NBA players that have signed to play in the Turkish league include Nets guard Sasha Vujacic, Darius Songaila of the Philadelphia 76ers and Nets draft pick Bojan Bogdanovic.”
