Draymond Green Thinks It’s ‘Disrespectful’ For Teams To Run Potential Game-Winning Plays Against Him
Last night’s Bucks-Warriors game came down to the wire and one of the Bucks final possessions, Jason Kidd drew up a play for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was being guarded by Draymond Green. On the inbounds pass, Green slapped the ball away from Giannis and Klay Thompson got the steal to seal the Dubs’ seventh-straight win.
After the game, Green was asked about the play and told reporters that he finds it “disrespectful” that coaches would draw up potential game-winning plays to run against him.
From ESPN:
“I think that’s disrespectful to me. I take that as disrespect. Don’t go at me for game. And of course I’ll say that, and next game [they’ll] get game or something, but whatever.”
Green also said that he knew exactly what play they were running based on the way the team set up:
“I already knew what play they were running,” Green said. “They have two plays that they run in situations like that. Once Giannis was down on the block, I already knew what they were running, so I was just waiting on them to pass the ball in. I wanted to make it tough and make Tony Snell think about it. I knew once he thought about it that he would throw the lob pass. Then I just went after the ball.”
Draymond has been on record saying that he wants to win the Defensive Player of the Year in a “bad” way and is certainly making himself a top candidate with his play.
