NC St. Makes Cinderella Run to Sweet 16

After needing a win in the ACC tournament to even make the field of 68, North Carolina State advanced to the Sweet 16 with a 66-63 win over Georgetown.

The Wolfpack has been able to turn things around late in the season due to its balance on offense, which was on full display on Sunday. Three of its players led the team with 14 points while all five starters had at least nine points.

Running the show is sophomore guard Lorenzo Brown. In the second round against San Diego State, Brown tallied 17 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. In the win over Georgetown, he finished with 12 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

Brown is enjoying the run as much as any member of the team

From newsobserver.com:

After he made the free throws to clinch N.C. State’s spot in the round of 16, sophomore guard Lorenzo Brown clenched both of fists, looked over to the Wolfpack fans behind press row and screamed:

“Yeah, baby!”

Things get a lot tougher for North Carolina State now faces Kansas, the two-seed in the Midwest. A win against the Jayhawks could mean another showdown with in-state rival North Carolina.
