Rashard Lewis Signs 1-Year Deal With the Dallas Mavericks

Free agent forward Rashard Lewis is moving on from the Miami Heat and joining the Dallas Mavericks. Both sides came to terms on a 1-year pact for the veteran’s minimum. Lewis, 34, put up 4.8 points a night and shot 34.3 percent from 3-point range for the Heat last season (jumping up to 10.5 points and 2.7 made 3-pointers over his last seven playoff games.) Per Yahoo!:

“Rashard made a difficult decision to join Dallas after two memorable seasons in Miami,” agent Colin Bryant said. “He would like to thank [Heat owners] Micky Arison, [executives] Pat Riley, Andy Elisburg and the entire Heat organization. He will always consider them family and champions.

“After talking to [Mavericks owner] Mark Cuban and coach Rick Carlisle, he felt a comfort level with the Mavericks. He’s excited to join another championship organization.”
