Report: Sixers Considering Kentucky’s Jamal Murray For No. 1 Pick

With a gaggle of picks and assets in their possession, the Philadelphia 76ers will likely be movers and shakers heading into this month’s draft. Rumors are already flying that Nerlens Noel could be on the move to Atlanta for Jeff Teague and now a new report has surfaced that Philly might select Kentucky’s Jamal Murray with the No. 1 pick instead of LSU’s Ben Simmons or Duke’s Brandon Ingram.

Murray,  a 6-4 combo guard out of Orangeville Prep (Canada), put up big numbers during his lone season in Lexington. The freshman averaged 20 points, 5.2 boards and 2.2. dimes and was named third-team All-American.

Marc Eversley, the team’s vice president of player personnel, gives the impression that Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram aren’t the lone prospects being eyed for that spot. On Thursday, he said:

“Jamal Murray, we certainly got a chance to see him a couple of weeks ago. He’s certainly going to be one of those kids who’s going to be in contention for the No. 1 pick.

“We like him a lot. He’s going to bring a lot to wherever he goes in the NBA, certainly a talent.”
