Tristan Thompson Officially Holding Out from Cavs

Despite the front-office’s wishes, Cleveland Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson did not show up for training camp Friday and extended his holdout into its fourth consecutive missed practice.

The restricted free agent declined to sign a $6.8 million qualifying offer from the Cavs, which had an Oct.1 deadline.

Thompson can either work out a new deal with Cleveland, or have the Portland Trail Blazers extend an offer sheet (which the Cavs can match.)

Per the NEOMG:

General Manager David Griffin said Thursday that he expected Thompson to show up “in some form or fashion” today.

There’s also the possibility of Thompson extending this holdout.

As for the team, it’s business as usual. […] “Right now my thoughts are just about the guys that are here and how hard and how well they’re working,” said head coach David Blatt. “No specific expectation otherwise.”
