Jameer Nelson’s Game 1 Status

by Ryne Nelson

Players thought Jameer Nelson would play. Stan Van Gundy thought he was a go. Team doctors ruled he was alright physically. Even Jameer Nelson thought it he’d be on court for Game 1 against the Lakers.

But for unknown reasons Nelson will not play tonight, and probably still miss the Finals entirely. Brian reports:

The Magic have decided to hold out point guard Jameer Nelson for tonight’s opening game of the NBA Finals against the Lakers, sources tell the Sentinel, and the chances of him playing at any point of the series is slim.

Is this as big of a deal as it sounds? Probably not. But a loud minority has argued Magic are such underdogs that bringing back Nelson might be worth the possible chemistry explosion. Stay tuned for more on why the Magic are opting to dress Jameer in street clothes tonight.

As those who are watching the game can see, Jameer is playing.
