Dwight Howard Also Intrigued By the Overseas Option

And the list just keeps growing longer, with no signs of it slowing down anytime soon …

Dwight Howard is the latest NBA superstar to express interest in playing for a team overseas should the League cancel games in the 2011-2012 season.

While on a promotional tour in Spain, Howard told the press that playing for a European squad would be a nice little side gig while he awaits for the lockout to end.

Málaga Hoy reports (and I do a poor job of translating):

The NBA is experiencing a crisis because of the lockout (players’ strike that threatens the start of the league in October) What is your opinion? “I think most players agree. I hope they fix the situation as soon as possible to avoid losing a game of the season. The NBA is a global competition followed by millions of viewers and should not pass things like this.”

If the lockout continues, Unicaja needs a player to strengthen the paint area … “It would be fun to play at Unicaja, it sure would be a great experience for me. If the break does not stop I would come to Europe to continue to improve on a great team to end the lockout when ready.”

Do with the above information what you will.

Even in Spain, the media hounded Dwight Howard about his impending free agency, a topic which he once again artfully side-stepped.
