Barack Obama Had a Nasty Finger Roll

by Marcel Mutoni

Barack Obama’s association with basketball has been well-documented (most notably, in this terrific NY Times piece), but did you know that he could really ball?

According to Sports Review Magazine, the presidential candidate not only led Occidental College (a Division III school) in scoring in ’79-’80, but he also reminded some of a certain former San Antonio Spur:

The school also may have produced a future US President: Barack Obama attended the school from 1978-1980 and was the school’s leading scorer in basketball in 1979. Now, you did NOT know that. Obama was considered a “George Gervin type” by one ex-coach I spoke to.

I recently watched An Unreasonable Man, a fascinating documentary on Ralph Nader, in which the legendary consumer advocate claims that there’s no difference between the Democrats and Republicans. I don’t know, Ralph, there aren’t too many Republicans with a finger roll on their resume. If I were an American voter, this would be a deal-breaker for me.
