The SLAM Fresh 10 – 2011

The best crop since ’07. Yeah, the current NBA rookies.

by Aggrey Sam

This group could be one of those classes people talk about for years. The high school class of 2011, like most years, has some unbelievable talent. But it’s not just that. It’s a feeling. A feeling that some of these kids will be household names for a long time. It’s the same feeling people got about the 2007 class, and we’re seeing how those guys are turning out. I could be wrong, but people have been hearing me say this for about two years now: 2011 is the future.

Rank Name Height Position School Why?
1 Michael Gilchrist 6-7 SF/PF St. Patrick (NJ) Conservatively speaking, he has a chance to be a very special player for years to come.
2 Austin Rivers 6-3 SG/PG Winter Park (FL) Doc’s son, an early Florida commit, is a prolific scorer with a ridiculous basketball IQ.
3 Tony Wroten 6-4 PG/SG Garfield (WA) Athleticism, quickness, defense and court vision are off the charts.
4 LaQuinton Ross 6-8 SF/SG Murrah (MS) Highly-developed wing has remarkable scoring tools and size.
5 LeBryan Nash 6-6 SF Lincoln (TX) Strong, athletic wing has added more polish to his game.
6 Mike Shaw 6-8 PF/SF De La Salle (IL) Outrageous talent give opponents problems inside and outside.
7 Marquis Teague 6-2 PG/SG Pike (IN) Little brother of Wake’s Jeff might be best in the fam when it’s all said and done.
8 Myck Kabongo 6-0 PG St. Benedict’s (NJ) Jet-quick future Longhorns floor general has improved his decision-making and D significantly.
9 Julian Royal 6-8 PF/SF Milton (GA) Tremendous skillset for a young player with his size.
10 Mychal Ammons 6-5 SF/SG Vicksburg (MS) Smooth wing’s frame, stroke and overall approach are very intriguing

Hello this is Mark Jones, from the Texas Basketball Rankings Association. There are a couple of prospects, not necessairly the most noticed players right now, but they have an enormous upside and make an impact on the team they sign with on signing day.
Denmart Dolinta- PG (IB ELITE)- 6’4 160
This philipino native attends Dallas Life School Oak Cliff. This guy is a monster, with a sick crossover. Needs to learn to handle the game better, rushes his offnse at times. An excellent no look passer, you can compare him to a tall Kirk Heinrich. This kid could be special. Also played for the Philipino 16-u National basketball team.
    Stanford Parrish C (IB ELITE) 6-8 250
Ths is a truly elite prospect, who currently attends Dallas Faith Family academy. A bruiser in the paint, this kid has the abilty to block shots like none other. Although some fundamentals are flawed, he still manages to dominate the game with his thundering blocks. A true-can’t-miss prospect.
    Mitesh Patel F-C (IB ELITE) 6-5 280
This prospect of Indian descent is one of the most underrated forwards in the nation. He attends Rockwall Heritage Christian. One of those hard working players, he is a versatile athlete and an accomplished martial artist. A consistent shooter, he can play hard down low. Problems with stamina, but a hard worker. This post is truly a great prospect. He plays for the Indian 16U National Basketball team.

Marcus Humose is one of the best combo guards in the state of Florida.{No. 19 Slam combo guard prospect} Averging 28.0 points per game as a senior, he is one of the best prospects that you probably never heard of. He has a silky smooth stroke from the arc, a good jumping ability, and a great baketball I.Q for a point guard. He plays at a small public school(Cottondale High School}, but he is truly a top division 1 quality player.
