The SLAM Fresh 50 – 2009

Read the fine print, then peep this list of the nation’s best as they enter the stretch of their final season.

by Aggrey Sam

Before you read this, understand one thing: I don’t think I’m the end-all or be-all of high school rankings. If you get worked up over these rankings, then obviously you do. That’s a personal problem. These rankings are strictly my opinion. They are based off where I go and what I see. If other people choose to do it differently, that’s cool, but not my style. Also, while these rankings hopefully give you a good idea of how good I think these players are right now, in a year, they’ll be moot. That’s because these kids will be in college and how good they’ll be will be based on how they adjust to college. That is all.

So nice to have these rankings back on the site. Blame the delay on our redesign…they—and Aggrey—are back for good now.

You guys all need to get out more. Don’t get me wrong, I love bball, but who cares about who is the 28th, 45th or 287th ranked high-school player in the country. Go shoot some free-throws, it’s nice out.

Duke always seems to get these ‘big versatile players’. Apparently Ryan Kelly intends to continue that ‘tradition’.
Justin- you hijacked Aggrey’s thread. Badly. Get a life haha.

Where is Christian Watford or Maurice Creek? The Wear twins are nothing more than glorified role players who are only ranked because they committed to UNC. Jordan Hulls outplayed John Wall last summer and recently torched Detroit Country Day which included Ray McCallum, Jordan Dumars, etc, but he’s no where to be found. Bawa Muniru is 7 feet tall and very athletic, but ?

The Memphis program is very entincing to a high school player like Cousins who has seen what Coach Cal has done recently in putting players in the league..Remember Rodney Carney, or should I say Chris Douglas Roberts??…Cousins can clearly see that Memphis affords him the opportunity to showcase his skills and if one year is all it takes so be it, because it keeps Memphis and Calipari looking good constantly putting players in the league…Coach Cal has this thing figured out!…….
