  Being from Toronto I know Magloire’s game well, and i’ve never been on that “he’s from Toronto we need to trade for him” bullshit. The best players should be brought in regardless of their hometown. If you want to fill a role spot or 12th man spot with a hometown hero that’s understandable, but not a cap filler. Kind of off topic but i’ve never really been impressed with Magloire and consider him unathletic, lazy and a underachiever and don’t expect he will help Portland all that much. Damn… is that some haterade or what..

  I’ve never been thrilled with Magloire, but for some reason he is respected around the league, which is something Portland has been DYING for – respectibility. That is what he brings, even if for the half a until he gets packaged along with hopefully DMiles for to a playoff team desperate for some bodies (and expiring contract).

  I am so sick of hearing how Maglorie is an all star in a pathetic Eastern Conference at the time in regards to center. His post game is a lazy jump hook and he only gets rebounds because he gets PT and is a big body. Plus is he going to be happy coming off the bench for Ghostface, who might I add should have never been let go by Milwaukee (remember who was 2-0 against the Lakers his rookie season). Also losing TJ (he will never devolp a jumpshot with muscular frame) is not going to affect the Bucks…..there best team for the Bucks last year was the backcourt of Bell and Williams and maybe Redd if he felt like playing D

  Agreed that Magloire is over-rated, but he is ABSOLUTELY better than what they gave up for him, which is the only thing that matters when evaluating a trade. Plus, he is a valuable asset that can be used in a trade later on. Maybe the Blazers can take their team of all PF’s and Centers and play the Knicks team of all PG’s and SG’s…

  The Bucks had no need for Maglioire with Bogut and Gadzuric manning the 5. Add to that Mags’ attitude (which we Hornets fans got tired of) and you can see why the Bucks saw it as addition by subtraction.

  What are you talking about? Ford for Villanueva was absolute RAPE. Ford is a short point who can’t shoot or defend, and who’s in line for a big contract extension at the end of this year. Villanueva is a multi-talented offensive force with the potential to be Rasheed Wallace on offense, and he’s cheap for three more years. It’s not remotely close. Jamaal Magloire sucks hard. He’s going to be a free agent anyway. The worst jump shot in the league? He shot 19% on jumpers and they accounted for 20% of his shots. Hor. Ri. Ble. A horrendous offensive center, a solid defender, and a solid rebounder. For eight million. Wow. No thanks. Magloire was good two years ago. That was a long time ago.

  steve blake if im a gm i dont make that deal. realistically the bucks got cheap and didnt want to pay ford when bell and williams were producing for next to nothing, villanueva is nice with it but watching him in toronto this past year kid is lazy and unmotivated id say he’ll have more of a derrick coleman career than sheed. the bucks got starstruck when charlie dropped two short of a 50 piece on them. the ford/villanueva trade is even seeing that both teams filled major holes with creating new ones, but i wouldnt move magloire for scrubs especially when i gave up a 1st rounder for him. someone in need of a big would have stepped up before the trade deadline with a better deal.

  ok, the bucks arent getting much from their trades, but i reckon they are heading in the right direction.. In my eyes the Villanueva trade was great, are people still hatin on him for gettting drafted early??? Him and Bogut are going to push hard next season, i know that Bogut is itchin to play more time.. I see them being a SERIOUS threat in the comming years.. easily the best 2 big men in the surrounding drafts.. I’m not a Bucks fan, but I am an Ozzie so i go for the bucks as well..   it seems like if you give the bucks a year or two to gel they’d serious contenders. charlie villanuneva and andrew bogut complement each other and michael redd will help spread the floor. as for the blazers? i think they’re still planning on trading a few more players.

Anyways, TJ Ford would’ve never thrived in the Bucks’ walk it up offense. I can see him averaging 9+ assists this season with us. If CV puts up 15 ppg, I’ll shit myself. The thing about TJ is that he’s fast. Probably the fastest player in the league. You guys are all stuck on Hollingeritis with his shitty number system.

  I think what the trade works out to is that the Bucks essentially parlayed Desmond Mason (coming off an 18ppg season at the time of the Magloire trade) and a 1st round pick into a has been, a never will be, and a backup point guard. Genius! On the real, the Bucks are actually better now than they were 24 hours ago, but the same could’ve been said by straight up releasing Magloire. (Yes, I mean that. 9 and 9 won’t do sh*t for you if it is a grumpy, chemistry-killing, 2nd unit, ballhog 9 and 9.) Still, there’s nothing wrong with Jamaal in-and-of-Jamaal, so couldn’t the Bucks have gotten something more out of this??? I mean, every single other trade rumor was better than the actual trade. One of ‘em had to be real. On the bright side: -Every single player involved in this trade has a contract coming up next year, leaving the Bucks with cap flexibility for summer 07
  -Steve Blake shoots over 40% from 3 and has a great TO/asst. ratio…so he’ll at least be stable backing the point
  -Joe Smith’s 40 games a season + Brian Skinner’s 40 games a season now actually equal an entire season of backup PF
  -the homey Ersan is going to get “by default” minutes playing behind Bob S at the SF spot (yay!)

Too bad he does nothing with it. 47.9% in the lane, and he’s only in the lane for 36% of his shots. He has no shot whatsoever, so you’re left with a mediocre field goal percentage since he doesn’t hit any threes to add any value. If you can’t shoot or defend you are mediocre. That simple. Hollinger sucks? Just because you said so, right? Very convincing. Fact is Villanueva has more potential, is a big man, is maybe fifteen millions of dollars cheaper for three seasons, and works perfectly inside-out with Andrew Bogut.

  I would have to agree with Vyse…..TJ is quick though he is never going to do anything with it. At the beginning of last year you could see a little bit of improvement with his jumpshot from all the work he did on it with John Lucas down in Houston but as the season wore on it slowly faded. TJ has very muscular arms and very thick wrist which tend to lead to him over pushing his shots. Also if he never gets the courage to bang down low, which I can’t blame a multi millionare with spinal cord issues, his speed is worthless except on fast breaks. Throw in that his defense leaves much to be desired and you have at this time a back up point guard in TJ.
