Links: SLAM Podcast Show 1

by Lang Whitaker

Yo. So…we’re literally hours away from All-Star 2009, and things here at the SLAM Dome are kinda insane right now. We’re closing our next issue, we’ve each got about 10,000 things to write and sterncastedit and proofread, and by this time tomorrow Ben, Ryne and I will be jetting our way toward Phoenix for All-Star Weekend. As always, the SLAM crew will have All-Star on lock, updating live from Phoenix as much as we can. We’ll start coming live from Phoenix on Friday morning, assuming we don’t run into the travel issues we had last year. (If we get on the plane and Sully Sullenberger is our pilot, I’m getting off and walking to Phoenix.)

In the meantime, we’ve got something cool to help you kill an hour or so. We’ve been talking about doing a podcast forever, but we never really got around to making it happen. Until now. I’m not a regular podcast listener, other than the Ricky Gervais podcasts, but I recognize the value of podcasts — they’re relatively easy to make, and they’re a cool way to get insight into particular topics on demand, when you have free time. So between cranking out SLAMs, trying to write on SLAMonline and twittering away, I’m going to try and do one of these podcasts each week. (Don’t quote me on that, though).

I wanted to set the bar high for show one, and I figured we had to come out of the box strong. So for our first show, our guests are…NBA Commissioner David Stern and exiled Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury. I’m still working on getting this on the iTunes Store, but for now you can download the file to your computer by right-clicking the link below and choosing “Save Link As…” on a Mac, or choosing whatever PC’s ask you to call it.

Or, if you want to let it ride in the background, you can listen on our convenient flash player below.

Huge thanks to both Commissioner Stern and Stephon for taking the time to be interviewed.

Hope all you guys enjoy it, and be sure to keep it locked to SLAMonline all weekend for live coverage from Phoenix. Later…
