Crater Leaves Ohio State

The Ohio State Buckeyes announced that Anthony Crater, a 6-1 freshmen point guard from Flint, Michigan has been granted a release from his Ohio State men’s scholarship in a press release. Crater did appear in all 10
games for the Buckeyes but was only averaging 1.2 points per game while averaging 13.1 minutes per game.

Crater’s former AAU coach, Carlos Fordham, told the Columbus-Post Dispatch that the Crater was unhappy that Head Coach Thad Matta “was not living up to” promises he had made to him. The report also states that when Crater was being recruited, he was told he would be the starting point guard after Mike Conley Jr. left the program for the NBA, according to Fordham.

He is now allowed to transfer to any Division I basketball program he would like to. Some of Crater’s options according to the Columbus Post-Dispatch are South Florida, Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas and Notre Dame.
