Billy Gillispie Sues Kentucky
Ex-Kentucky head coach Billy Gillispie sued the University of Kentucky after being fired without cause. He is suing the school for $6 million after claiming he is owed the money from a “memorandum of understanding.” He says that he is owed $1.5 million a year for four of the five years left on the deal. The lawsuit states: “Rather than honor its written, signed deal with coach Gillispie, defendant prefers instead to pretend as though no deal was ever reached. Unfortunately for defendant, its make-believe world is just that.” Gillipsie was fired on March 27, 2009.
