Breaking: Wall to Kentucky

The nation’s top high school PG picks his college.

by Aggrey Sam

WallSources tell SLAM that John Wall, the nation’s top high school point guard, committed to the University of Kentucky tonight. Wall picked Kentucky over Duke, Miami and Florida, among other schools. The 6-4 senior from Word of God in Raleigh, N.C., is viewed as the missing piece for new Wildcats coach John Calipari.

With forward Patrick Patterson recently deciding to return to school (and high-scoring guard Jodie Meeks rumored to also be considering pulling out of the NBA Draft) and recruits like Alabama big man DeMarcus Cousins, as well as a talented core group of returnees, Kentucky is likely to be one of the favorites to win a national championship in 2010. While Alabama point guard Eric Bledsoe signed up to play in Lexington recently, in Calipari’s dribble-drive motion offense, multiple ballhandlers can play together in the up-tempo style. In addition, the recent SLAM co-cover boy is viewed as a one-and-done prospect.

Aside from Patterson, Meeks, Cousins and Bledsoe, other future teammates who will benefit from Wall’s playmaking ability include sharpshooting juco recruit Darnell Dodson, incoming freshman big man Daniel Orton and athletic sophomore wings DeAndre Liggins and Darius Miller. Long story short, don’t be surprised if you catch a case of deja vu when you watch Big Blue play next season–Wall will remind you a lot of Derrick Rose and with him on the team, Calipari could have another team back in the chip.

KU is stacked up to the point that it isn’t fair, they should treat the S.E.C. like Memphis U do Con.USA!!!

I believe this was all planned from the beginning of last season for Cal to go to Kentucky it all seems obvious he got all of his recruits to sign a waiver in their LOI that they can be released if he was not the coach here at Memphis this is the biggest piece of crap coach of all time he will disappoint the Kentucky fans with his great way of words but he will not produce on the sidelines.

Good point Gene, but if I were in a similar position, I’d go to the U. For one, he can pad his stats better than he could on a stacked Kentucky team. Two, he could wind up in Minnesota next year for all he knows. BTW, I have absolutely no connection to Miami. I’m just playing devils advocate here.

No longer will my wilcats be another door stop bowing down to ego teams like UNC, Dukies, and KU. When Cal assembles the complete team he hungers for. UK will be feared once again.

I’m tellin ya’ll, UK is back. All the haters can take a back seat. If they dont win it next year, they will surely get close. Whos better? Can anybody tell me?

This is false. John Wall has not committed to anyone at this time. ” IS this a legit comment? But anyway, UNC will still be doing work next year.

Watch some small college with some breakthrough player upset this team. Overhyped. To many egos.

the only teams i can see competing with us are kansas and MAYBE Uconn. if any other teams beat us, it will be on luck. sure, we’ll be a very young team, but experience means nothing when u got players like this.
