SLAM Fresh 75 – 2010

Final after-Prom rankings.

by Rodger Bohn / @rodgerbohn

With Aggrey Sam over doing his thing with the Bulls, I’ll be attempting to fill his void on the rankings over here for SLAMonline. Even though I did mad high school scouting over at DraftExpress, I did not realize how daunting a task it was to actually have to sit down and rank 75 guys. The Class of 2010 is stacked from top to bottom and although there are no “sure fire” one and dones like year’s past, the class surely has the potential to have 6-10 guys bounce after their freshman campaign. This is a class where a guy ranked in the 50s could just as easily jump to the League as quickly as a guy in the top 10. Taking all of the post-season all-star games in to effect and scouring through multiple notebooks of observations, here’s SLAMonline’s farewell gift to the Class of 2010.

My own personal top 5 would be 1. Barnes, 2. Sully, 3. Irving, 4. Kanter, 5. Jones Baylor would’ve had a SICK team if Epke Udoh stuck around, with him and Jones up front. Then again, is Turner had stuck around at OSU…ooh-wee! But they’re both gonna do big things in the L and these kids are gonna do big things in college….and then the L.

There’s no way Fab Melo is a real person.

  • http://www.yougotdunkedon.com LilKDub503

Ugh, Terrence Jones all the way down at 13? Come on, give me a break. There is no way he doesn’t have a more complete game than Leslie, and outplayed Barton in the all-star games. Well, it doesn’t really matter anymore, anything top 20 is pick of the schools/national spotlight, so whatever.

With a name like that Fab Melo had no choice but to go to Syracuse.

Thanks Rodger. Look forward to a lot more of these…

CJ Fair can do it all. ALL. And Will Barton is the truth.

  • StF

Jared Sullinger is not Number One,
He IS the Most POLISHED and has the Most COMPLETE
game, but he has FEW NBA potential
He wont be a star in the next level
Just a good starter or Role PLayer

  • http://www.twitter.com/rodgerbohn Rodger Bohn

@StF- What more does Sullinger have to do? He’s virtually dominated everyone that he’s played throughout his entire HS career. No doubt he doesn’t have the NBA potential of Barnes or Perry Jones, but as of right now, there isn’t a better player in the class in my eyes…

  • Black Rick

Harrison Barnes is the best player in 2010,hands down.

  • TSmoove

I could have sworn that Tobias committed to Tennessee not Memphis

  • Dylan

Yeah. Tobias does not go to White Station- that is Joe Jackson and Tobias is going to UT and Jackson to Memphis.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Tobias did commit to Tennessee. Rodger messed up. Also, how was Jereme Richmond Illinois’ Mr. Basketball and a McDonald’s All-American but you got him three spots below Meyers Leonard?

  • http://slamonline.com Rodger Bohn

@Enigmatic, for some reason, it messed up when I posted players in the spot that Jackson was previously in, it didn’t change. Same thing happened in the tables for 2011.

As for the debates on the Illinois guys, I went with the riskier pick with Meyers. Richmond is better at the moment, but how long will it stay that way? If Meyers puts it all together, he could easily be one and done.

  • diggybomb

So according to you Rodger, Sullinger is #1 because of his work but you have perry jones ahead of Kanter, Irving, Knight and Harris. Perry Jones has shown nothing but physical potential, the body of work simply inst there yet. Certainly not above these 4 players who posses an abundance of talent
