Wooden Hospitalized In ‘Grave Condition’

Thoughts and prayer go out to the revolutionary coach who taught players that life’s highlights should not exist only on the basketball court: “Former UCLA men’s basketball coach John Wooden was being treated Thursday at UCLA Medical Center, according to a broadcast report. KCAL9/CBS2 reported that Wooden, 99, was in “grave” condition after being hospitalized Sunday and he has refused to eat for the past couple of days. A UCLA spokesman could not immediately confirm the report.”

    The greatest basketball coach who’s ever lived. Best wishes to his family. Coach Wooden’s contribution to the game of basketball and to society to me, has been understated, and hopefully, the masses will salute him, honor him, and recognize him, for he has touched the lives of more people than many. My words can’t come close to explaining Coach’s impact. I hope The League will do something to immortalize Coach’s legacy.

    John Wooten coached Ned Averbach who coached out in oakland. His coaching and drills are simply amazing and create superior skills both mentally and physically on the court.

    What?
    He’ll pull through to see triple digits.

  • zeekthefreak

    He will make it to triple digits before anything goes down.

    @zeek don’t be so sure, Coach just might want to see his Nellie again. I got the amazing chance to meet and talk to him for a couple of minutes. I asked him what his favorite thing about coaching was. His response: turning teens into adults. He always loved hearing from his old players and about their accomplishments in life. There is no argument on this one…. GOAT

    @onlyclipsfanonslam: You had the honor to talk to Coach? Right now, at this moment I am the most jealous man in the world.

    @philosopher Yes, I was blessed enough to talk to Coach. I praised him and he couldn’t be a more humble man. Even more on the story, this happened when I used to work as a host in a LA deli years back. He didn’t want to be put in front of everyone else, and said he wanted to wait for the people ahead of him to be seated. He gave everyone who approached him time to ask a question or two.

    @onlyclipsfanonslam: Very nice.
