Ater Majok Leaving UConn

UConn’s underwhelming 23-year-old freshman Ater Majok is on his way out at Connecticut. From the Hartford Courant: “Ater Majok’s playing career at UConn has likely ended, multiple sources have told The Courant. Coach Jim Calhoun said that is a distinct possibility, but not a done deal. ‘We’re talking to Ater about his future, yeah,’ Calhoun said. ‘That’s all I can say. … He hasn’t made any decision yet, but he could certainly go back and play in the Australian professional league. Nothing’s been determined yet, but there’s a chance that kind of thing could happen.’”

I think it’s time for Jim Calhoun to leave UConn.

Co-Sign Ben… This has to be tied into the NCAA Investigations. Cut all ties w/ the kid. Not only that, but a “recruit” tweeted UConn may lose scholarships… The AD up there in Stoors has to give Calhoun the “Bobby Bowden” treatment w/ this one.

keep tellin us what???? that the NCAA is hounding him and everybody else for no reason at all?? bunch of blood-thirsty, greedy, money-hungry gustapo is what they are…anyways get your money Ater

    NCAA investigating what??

they make all the money while these kids can’t even be given some of that to help their family out.

maybe if the ncaa created a way for these kids with poor families could go to school and support their family at the same time, we wouldn’t even have these problems at all.
NCAA should do whats best for the students, not whats best for their deep pockets.
At the end of the day, it’s the kids that bring the money in, not the CEO’s and School presidents….

Big part of the problem was the Uconn coaching staff making Ater play the 5, and go “basket to basket”. He’s a 4, who can play small forward. Why would you wanna turn Ater into a ‘Shaq’ style of player? It makes no sense, they didn’t utilise his skill-set at all. I was really disappointed with the way UCONN handled his situation.

In my opinion, Calhoun should call it a career.
He is an icon in Connecticut.
He has had a great run.
Besides, with the health issues, and along with other issues, I can imagine that it is more of a burden than not.
And after his near meltdown last season, I think he should have let it go.
But, one only lives once, I guess.
