Kentucky Celebrated Final Four Berth With Jay-Z

Jigga was in the Kentucky locker room last night for some reason, and the players were understandably excited. From the Courier-Journal: “Darius Miller never pictured meeting Jay-Z. And the University of Kentucky forward certainly didn’t suspect an encounter with the rap legend would be the second-biggest thing to happen that day. But on Sunday, Miller and his UK teammates met the platinum-selling artist in the locker room minutes after advancing to the Final Four with a 76-69 win against North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament East Regional final. ‘That in itself was a pretty nice experience to add on to (the Final Four),’ Miller said. ‘Going to the Final Four (is bigger) by far. But still, Jay-Z. It’s crazy. This whole day has been crazy. I’m still taking it all in.’ Jay-Z, a Brooklyn, N.Y., native, is a partial owner of the NBA’s New Jersey Nets. UK spokesman DeWayne Peevy said his visit to the UK locker room wasn’t planned in advance.”

    While Jigga definitely has no ability to “recruit” college players to come to the NJ Nets, since they get drafted by the team, he does have the ability to encourage undecided players whether or not to go pro. Because of this, NBA owners are not supposed to have any contact with college players unless they have declared themselves eligible for the upcoming Draft & signed with an agent. Seeing as how Jay is an partial owner of an NBA team, I’m sure David Stern will make a phone call to Jay or Mikhail Prokhorov & remind them of these rules…I’m pretty confident Stern made the same call to MJ after Jordan met with the Tarheels squad & promised to hook them all up with cool grey XIs & anything else they wanted if they were to make the Final 4…Stern probably sent out a memo to all team owners this week to remind all team owners of the rules.
