Officials Quit Big East Tourney Amid Controversial Missed Calls

Following a controversial and even embarrassing ending for the Big East Conference, the three officials that called yesterday’s St. John’s vs. Rutgers game have voluntarily withdrawn for the remaining of the 2011 Big East Championship. The announcement was made by Commissioner John Marinatto earlier today. With approximately 1.7 seconds remaining, and Rutgers down by two, the officials missed a traveling call followed by an out-of-bounds violation by the Red Storm’s Justin Brownlee. The missed calls by officials  — Jim Burr, Tim Higgins and Carl Walton — may have caused Rutgers to lose the game.

So, nobody has made a Donaghy joke yet?

AKA they got canned but the commish let them
Save face and say they were just leaving. They most likely made 4 times their pay on the bets they placed on St. Johns anyway..

Whoever wrote the article sucks buffalo balls. They can’t spell cost.

^^And whoever taught RunNGun English sucks buffalo balls. How dumb is to correct someone’s mistakes while compounding it with your own mistakes?
..Caused Rutgers to lose the game..is grammatically correct. What you’re thinking is ..cost Rutgers the game.. which would be correct. But what you are suggesting is …cost Rutgers to lose the game… which is incorrect.

you do realise you wrote “How dumb is to correct someone’s mistakes while compounding it with your own mistakes?” I love the irony in that sentence :D hopefully I don’t make make any mistakes here, that would just make it worse

who gives a sh*t if anyone can spell or not.. anyways, i almost sh*t a brick when watching that game.. i was so p*ssed.. 2 fouls in the final minute of play should have been called, then the travel, then the out of bounds.. most just thought the refs were just horrible refs, but thats idiotic to think that these refs are anything but grade A at thier jobs.. they are excellent refs, they just threw the game on purpose to make alil (actually alot) side money.. the refs should be forever banned from reffing again and get a heavy *ss fine, and i know its against the rules but the NCAA should make an exception and let these teams have a rematch cause thats just f*ckin bullsh*t

No apology, no admission of fault, no firing, no suspension. Just an early vacation. Glad to know Refs need to be caught betting on a game to actually be fired. College players practice and play their entire lives for chances like this, and fats refs choke on their own whistles and get to come back next year. The union always says something about how hard refereeing is – try winning a basketball game…

This is BS. They must’ve earned enough on that one game to last them a year. They better NEVER step on the court again. Those were embarrassing.
