Terrence Jones Returning to Kentucky

After bouncing around the idea of entering the NBA Draft, Kentucky sophomore Terrence Jones has decided to return to the Wildcats for the 2011-12 season. The Louisville Courier-Journal has it: “John Calipari’s third University of Kentucky basketball team will have something his first two lacked: star sophomores. Forward Terrence Jones announced Saturday that he’ll withdraw from the NBA draft and return for his sophomore year at UK. He joins Doron Lamb as high-profile freshmen to eschew the one-and-done approach under Calipari, who lost freshmen John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe and Daniel Orton to the draft last season. Jones is the biggest name to return for a second season at Kentucky under Calipari. The 6-foot-8 Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year averaged 15.7 points and a team-high 8.8 rebounds in helping lead the Wildcats to the NCAA Final Four, where they lost to Connecticut in a national semifinal. ‘Last year was an unbelievable experience, but we left a lot on the table,’ Jones said in a release. ‘I’ve decided to come back and help us get back to the Final Four and bring the Big Blue Nation a national championship.’”

This is a pretty smart move by Mr. Jones he would have been a lottery pick this year but Kentucky is gonna have a killer squad next year and his stock will improve even more next year

Portland’s own. Oh gee, thanks ^ you up there, I definitely wanted someone to take my name.

Anyway, I say good move, he could definitely use a little polish on his game. That rotation is looking real nice right now: Teague, Gilchrist, Davis, Jones, Miller. With Wiltjer and Vargas providing some interior stability, this team should find themselves in the Final Four next year, just as Jones prophesizes.

Oops, forgot about the aforementioned Lamb. This squad is going to be stacked.

WOW. That team is gonna be STACKED.
LilKDUB already mentioned their names so I won’t go through them again.
The question now, though, is who starts where? I think Jones played the 4 last year even though he;s an NBA 3.
You gotta think he’ll be starting, otherwise he may not have been so willing to return.
So do they start Gilchrist at the 3, Jones at the 4 and Davis at 5?
Davis has the height but he is uber-scrawny. I think all three of them can play the 3, but of course they all won’t. Someone’s gonna have to start at the 5, or one of them will have to come off the bench.
    Should be interesting…

Pretty dumb move by TJones, I mean he would have been guaranteed a top 10 pick and there was no point of him staying they already signed Anthony Davis who plays the same position and is the #1 recruit in the Nation.

T Jones will lead the Cats to the national championship game vs North Carolina!!

  • Mack

If you wanna start these guys all together just have a point guard and three forwards… they can play defense on smaller players can’t they? They can all defend guards it would be an advantage three forward lineup, with a center and a point guard or w/e you want… a shooter maybe at point guard…. THINK ABOUT THAT!

Damn. Maybe the only player that Caliapri recruited and he’s going back to school for his sophomore year. Man, that’s great news if you’re Kentucky.

  • Bo Diddly

Risky decision surely – he would have gone higher and got more money in this ‘weak’ draft. He won’t get the same numbers next year with all that fresh talent..
