Wally Judge to Transfer to Rutgers

Head Coach Mike Rice is slowly but steadily bulking up the Rutgers roster and the rest of the Big East should begin to take notice. Landing former McDonald’s All-American Wally Judge just might do. From The Star-Ledger: “For the past month or so, Rutgers had been waiting for a decision about where former Kansas State power forward Wally Judge would transfer. The verdict is in: Judge will be a Scarlet Knight. Two people with direct knowledge of Judge’s decision-making process confirmed a report late tonight on CBSSports.com that the 6-9, 218-pound standout would be coming to Rutgers. The people asked to remain anonymous because all transfer news is supposed to be released by the university. A former five-star recruit coming out of high school two years ago in Arlington, Fla., Judge left the Wildcats team at the end of January. In 53 games with Kansas State over the last two years, Judge averaged 4.0 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. Judge was a McDonald’s All-American coming out of Arlington Country Day school in Jacksonville, Fla. Prior to that, he played two seasons at Bladensburg High School in Washington, D.C., before transferring to Arlington as a junior. While at Bladensburg, he played for the AAU team, DC Assault, where current Rutgers associate head coach David Cox was a former coach. Cox’s ties to the Baltimore/Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia communities have helped head coach Mike Rice and the Scarlet Knights make a number of inroads for highly-talented recruits.”

That “next Michael Beasley” label that was thrown at him at KSU didn’t help.
Hope things work out better for him at Rutgers.

4 pts and 3.2 rebounds over 2 years. Not quite the next Beasley. Life’s tough being an aspiring pro baller, seriously.
