Lamont “MoMo” Jones Transfers to Iona

It seems like the “MoMo” sweepstakes have come to an end. According to multiple reports , 6-0 point guard Lamont Jones will be transferring to Iona. From CBSSports.com: “As soon as Lamont “Momo” Jones announced he was transferring from Arizona, rumors began to swirl that the New York native was planning to return home. While moving to St. John’s didn’t work out due to NCAA regulations, Jones did end up going closer to home. On Wednesday, a source confirmed to CBSSports.com that Jones is transferring to Iona. He chose the Gaels over Seton Hall and Hofstra. Jones played at Rice High School (N.Y.) before transferring to American Christian (Pa.) and later Oak Hill Academy (Va.). After high school, Jones committed to Louisville, Virginia Tech and signed with USC before finally settling on Arizona. The 6-foot point guard averaged 9.7 points and 2.4 assists last season for the Wildcats, helping lead them to the Elite Eight.”

First of all, that’s crazy, dude probably coulda transferred to like anywhere he wanted to.
Secondly, off-topic, but every time I hear about Iona, I think of a story I read about when Jim Valvano was the head coach there.
Supposedly, one evening he was at a party, and he was walking around introducing himself.
“How you doing? Jim Valvano, Iona College.”
And supposedly this one chick he introduced himself to look at him skeptically and said, “aren’t you a little young to own your own college?”
LOL. I don’t know why, but that story always makes me smile.
